Cover and Two Page Layout Project

Here is a breakdown of the project. I only expect the cover FINAL PENCIL next class. Then we will go to color. But I would like you to have a good idea on your interior layout also (do some thumbnails).

Final for Thursday

Letter size print out. One page, inked and colored (can be grey scale). For the color process open you file, double-click on the "background" layer, it will let you rename it or you can use the default name. This is the layer with your drawing on it. Go to your layers palette, use the drop-down bar to change it to "multiply". After this you don't touch this layer again. Create a new layer label it color and put it under your drawing layer. Do your color on this layer. Any questions, text me.
Also bring your digital files to class.
I will post some color work in a bit.

1 Page Layout Project

Project is on 1 letter size paper (8.5" x 11") 2 or more panels. Work small thumbnails for the layouts. Make sure all your elements are explored (characters, poses etc) before you define the panels.

Just restating, homework is ten pages (1 page is front and back) 10 pages of shape exploration of human or animal characters. Next week bring your pencils (Col-Erase and graphite) and a fine line pen set with a brush pen.

I screwed up the measurements on the final, the interior pages are 11" x 17" split down the middle for 2 pages. I blame Chris for this mistake. Mock him if you must.
Photoshop color:
Open you new document with your drawing, go to "layer blends" in the "layers" palette. Drop down to "multiply". Lock off that layer and create a new layer under it and cal it color. Color will show through the top layer now.
Illustrator:
Place you drawing on it's own layer (file-place). If you want double click the layer and dim it.  Use the pen tool to draw you lines. Fatten the stroke slightly, Select all lines and go to file-object-outline path (save your original lines also). Then you can use the white arrow tool to select points to adjust your drawing.
